R0ninX3ph: I have seen the complete opposite, a bunch of people bitching that Apples map app is shit, I then tell them to simply download the Google app..... But they continue bitching instead.

boboon: Is there a Google maps app for iOS yet?

blaknite: Not that I can find.

R0ninX3ph: I am fairly sure it is contained in the Google App itself.

R0ninX3ph: Well... This is interesting indeed... Yesterday at work I was looking at this site: it HAD Maps included in all of the pictures as well as in the list of what was included, now it is gone.

boboon: Apple would have made them pull it or they would have pulled it from the store (It's how they roll)

R0ninX3ph: Well since it was a part of the Google app itself and not a separate app, it wasn't Apple who "pulled it from the store" as they would have pulled the entire app. Though, seriously? What is with "APPLE IS THE EVIL CORPORATION AND EVERYONE ELSE GIVES AWAY FREE PUPPIES AND KITTENS WITH ROSES ON TOP"? Neither Google NOR Apple are inherently good or evil. Google is just as douchey stuff as Apple.

blaknite: pretty much. If you had a competitors app as your mainstay for maps and could replace it with something nearly as good you would. Likewise you'll never see any Apple apps on android. In all honesty I've used the new maps a bit over the last couple of days for directions and it hasn't failed me yet. I'd also like to point out that the plethora of bad 3D shots isn't a reason to call it a fail.

R0ninX3ph: The other thing to remember is that Smartphones were NOT the Norm when the iPhone was released and when Google Maps was in its infancy it was as unreliable as a 5 year old street directory. (Yes kiddies, some of us ARE old enough to remember maps in books). So, I have all confidence that Apple's offering will evolve and equal that of Google maps.
