The two parties referred to in this policy are the Business Entity (The LANBox) and you, the user of this website.
I. Us, the Business Entity: "The LANBox" is both the publisher and operator of the website http://www.thelanbox.com/. Hereinafter referred to as "The LANBox." Whenever first-person pronouns are used within this policy, (we, us, our, etc.) these provisions are referring to The LANBox. Also, when the terms "the website" or "website" are used, these terms refer to http://www.thelanbox.com/.
II. You, the user: As the user of this website, this policy will refer to the user through second-person pronouns (you, yours, etc.). Hereinafter, the user of the website will be referred to in such second-person pronouns.
We recognise the importance of protecting the privacy of information collected about visitors to our web site, in particular information that is capable of identifying an individual ("personal information"). This Internet Privacy Policy governs the manner in which your personal information, obtained through the web site, will be dealt with. Personal Information Collected
Users of our website and services will necessarily have multiple levels of interactivity with us. Depending upon the manner of your interaction, we will collect different information about you. The type of information collected is as follows:
I. Browsers: Browsers are visitors to our website who never enter into any active data collection pages. Any information gathered from Browsers is also gathered from Members. This information is restricted to cookies, IP Addresses and Referral URLs and other such session data.
II. Members: Members are those users who subscribe to any of our services. Upon subscribing, Members will be prompted to submit further information about themselves. Your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter "your user name"), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter "your password") and a personal, valid e-mail address (hereinafter "your e-mail"). Your information for your account at "The LANBox" is protected by data-protection laws applicable in the country that hosts us. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your e-mail address required by "The LANBox" during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of "The LANBox." In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated e-mails.
How Your Personal Information is Collected
Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, browsing The LANBox will cause the the website software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer"s web browser temporary files. The cookies contain a user identifier, an anonymous session identifier and to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.
The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter "anonymous posts"), registering on "The LANBox" (hereinafter "your account") and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter "your posts").
How Your Information is Used
Your personal information is used primarily to provide you with the services you have subscribed to. It may also be used to contact you if necessary. Generally, your information is only used for the purposes for which you specifically provided it.
Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at "The LANBox", so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with "The LANBox" or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the "I forgot my password" feature provided by the website software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your e-mail, then the website software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.
Your email address or other personal details will never be sold or added to unrelated mailing lists or used or disclosed for any such purposes without your consent.
Access to Information Collected
We will never attempt to identify users or their browsing activities based on information collected. Nevertheless, in the unlikely event of an investigation, a law enforcement agency or other government agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect information we have collected about you.
Data Security
We take appropriate measures to protect the transmission of all sensitive end-user information, such as personal contact details. We make every effort to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems. However, we cannot guarantee that these efforts will prevent "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information. While we take all reasonable measures to prevent such breaches of security, it would be irresponsible of us to guarantee the security of your data. When you provide us with any personal information, you assume the risk of such breaches and that The LANBox will not be held liable for any personal information gathered by such a breach.
