GMod Challenge 1: Build a light tank
Date: Wednesday 22 February 2012 | Author: blaknite
First up is the construction of a light tank, with some pretty restrictive criteria for you to meet. Find out more after the break.
These criteria are based around the typical role of a 1940's era light tank. It must be fast, agile, and accurate while travelling at speed. See if you can meet these criteria.
Weight: Under 20 tonne gross
Speed: Over 40kph
Minimum Armour Thickness: 20mm
Maximum Armament: 50mm calibre, maximum of two guns.
Track Traverse: 40 deg/s max
Turret Traverse: 45 deg/s max
Power: ACF engines only
Share your tanks in the comments below. You've got until Sunday 4th March to be ready for an event day to show off our results. I'll be filming it for a YouTube video so I'm keen to see your best work. More details as it happens.
Good luck and enjoy!

To get the gun stable the tank has to weigh too much. Why does the 50mm auto have to weigh so much? guess I'll downsize to 30mm maybe.

I think I'm going to put a Panzer III body on my tracks, they are similar but not perfect. Will look close enough with the body on it.

you aren't the first to say that Flat_Out, I'm thinking we might have to hold put out a few videos and an article with a few tips and tricks along with a whole list of places to find inspiration for your designs. I like to model mine after real tanks but not exact replicas.
